An automatic it hits certain rpm or trips switch somewhere but in stick you want so you can keep them lower rpms in an automatic it wants usually when it wants usually when it wants usually get higher gas.

The oil that its churning that it just burns up the torque converter thats probably open to debate.
The oil that its churning that is because of energy doing that it works great it wastes energy.
